NECS and our partners specialize in the installation of cellulose insulation. Properly installed, cellulose provides superior insulation and soundproofing at a cost that is much less than comparable petroleum based insulation. Cellulose is also biodegradable when disposed and takes far less energy to produce than other insulation types. Adding insulation can be a highly effective way to combat rising fuel costs and make your home more comfortable throughout the seasons.

Homes built in the 1970s and 1980s have a particularly high rate of insulation breakdown. Typically, these materials have been damaged by moisture or other environmental agents, which breaks down the insulation and impacts energy efficiency.

Infrared technology combined with blower door infiltration analysis allows homeowners to diagnose areas of a home that are not energy efficient and that can't be visually inspected.

An infrared inspection can be used to verify any items in question and will produce hard copy documentation of all conditions. (Thermography is not a standard component of Home Energy Solutions but is available at additional cost. Call us for more information.)

Infared Bathroom Inspection

New England Conservation Services recognizes that multi-family residences face a number of challenges due to the mix of concerns that tenants and condominium owners, property managers/owners and condominium directors have. As a provider of Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund services, we offer innovative and comprehensive approaches to saving energy to all stakeholders.

Multi-Family Buildings

In a multi-family facility, an individual household’s energy consumption is impacted by the entire building. Poor insulation in an upper unit will affect the energy usage of the unit below. Ductwork, pipe and cable chases, gaps, cracks, etc., often run throughout the entire building. The most effective way to improve energy efficiency is to address the building as a whole. The Multi-Family initiative gives the owners and managers of these buildings access to multiple energy-efficiency programs through a single, dedicated CL&P program administrator. Both electric and natural gas efficiency measures will be considered. You will be able to benefit from several of the financial incentive programs supported by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund. Incentives and favorable financing (when eligible) are provided to help offset the cost of making these buildings more energy efficient.

Who’s Eligible?

  • A building is generally considered multi-family if it is:
    • More than three connected units,
    • If it has mixed use within the same building, or
    • If it under control of a property manager, association or housing authority.
  • New or existing buildings are eligible

What Type of Energy-Efficiency Measures are Eligible?

  • Insulation
  • Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Lighting
  • Appliances
  • Water Heating

In terms of potential energy loss, an old window can be like having a hole in the side of your house.   "Very happy with
  my experience"

"At first I was surprised with just how thorough the technicians were being, it seemed that Paul and Jen covered every inch of my home and then explained everything that they were doing. They even returned the next day to install a door sweep that I requested. I was very happy with my experience." read more
